We are pleased to announce the launch of the Alison Fordham bursary (for Online Education), named in honour of our valued longstanding colleague at the Institute of Continuing Education, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
Throughout her career, Alison supported thousands of learners to access key virtual learning resources and to engage with fully online and blended learning.
Importantly, Alison championed the Institute’s mission and values by enabling adult learners across a range of fields to grow in confidence around digital technologies and participate in online communities of learning.
Cory Saarinen, Assistant Director of the Technology Enhanced Learning team, who worked alongside Alison said: “Over the last few months I have often reflected on Alison’s career at ICE and the thousands of adult learners she supported in their studies.
It is fitting that the bursary in her name not only recognises Alison’s achievements but will also continue her legacy of supporting students by providing financial assistance to help students in need find their own transformative online learning experience.”
To align with the legacy of our colleague, this bursary provides up to seven 50% tuition fee concessions per annum for learners who wish to study on one of our short open online courses via our virtual learning platform.
Alison’s family share that: “Alison was extremely proud to have learned about the bursary being named after her, after all the years and hard work she put into her role supporting students and colleagues. It's so lovely that she will have left such a wonderful legacy to continue to support online learners at the Institute.”
